So according to that little thing we call a calendar
tomorrow is Valentines Day.
Honestly--as a child, loved it, how could you not ?
You went to school knowing that you were going to give out your Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles valentines & you would always receive something in return.
If you didn't ?......
(Knuckle-Sangwiches) |
Even if they weren't your friend & you didn't like them (or vice versa.)
Those were the rules.
Then you get a bit older & it just stops.
Know what I think ?
Crock.
So this is my valentine to everyone.
I am going to talk about 3 things that I love & share them with you:
1) Baking
2) Cookies & Cream
..no seriously I idolize her & she was my first & last inspiration to start the Boston Baker.
Please if you haven't --check out her site.
You won't regret it.
So she provides a super genius idea for Cookies & Cream Cupcakes !
So here are a few tips/ pictures to guide you along the way:
#1 Cupcakes
Oreo lovers---I recommend Double Stuff |
Try not to salivate. This is what they look like after baking. |
#2 Filling.
Creamy consistency. Check. |
Putting a ziploc bag in a plastic container makes for easier filling & storage in the fridge |
I used the Bismark tip method for filling. Now, resist the urge to eat them just like this---the best part is yet to come ! |
Frosting
I found the easiest way with the best result for "finely ground" was to just throw the cookies in the food processor. |
Now --I'm a fan of sweet --but not everyone can handle intense sweet.
So what I did, knowing my audience of tasters--
I cut the amount of confectionary sugar that the recipe calls for in the frosting from 8 cups to 4 cups.
You can do it too, and it won't take away from the taste of the cupcake.
Finale
What they look like in the end from the inside--or atleast how mine came out.
I was thinking you could also try a version with chocolate cupcake and the Golden Oreos--
What do you think ?
You can garnish however you like--
I chose to buy the Oreo handi-snacks & just used the sticks.
Figured they made it classy looking enough for the red carpet...
Why!?
I'm glad you asked.
I brought these winners to a friends house last night for a "Grammy viewing party"
(A.K.A--hang with my friends, pig out on pizza & do our own commentary like we own the red carpet.)
Psh.
Don't roll your eyes--you know you've done it.
Enjoy.
I bid you adieu.
